How the round is paid

The short version

When you use a buy button here and go on to buy at our retail partner, a commission on that sale may come back to us. You pay the same price either way. The commission comes out of the partner’s side, never out of yours.

What that does and does not change

It does not change the order of the rack. Pieces are sorted by ratings and by the fit notes, not by what pays best, and there is no paid placement on this site because there is nobody to sell it to but ourselves.

It does mean the site can run without advertising, which was the trade we wanted.

Why the links are wrapped

Buy buttons are buttons rather than plain links, and the destination is encoded rather than written out. That keeps our code from being scraped off the page and reused by somebody else. The destination is our retail partner’s page for that exact piece, and nothing else.

What we do not take money for

We do not take money to write a fit note a particular way, we do not accept payment to move a piece up the page, and we do not run sponsored posts in the clubhouse notes.
