What we would tell you on the range

  • Four-way stretch weave. The lightweight fabric moves in all directions so you can bend and stride without resistance. It breathes well in direct sun and dries rapidly after heavy effort.
  • Secure side zips. We put zip closures on both side pockets to keep a phone, tees, or keys from sliding out while you move. The pockets sit flat against the hip when zipped shut.
  • Split hem construction. A small side split at each outer hem frees up room across the thigh. This keeps the leg opening from catching or pulling tight when you crouch or take a long stride.
  • Simple wash care. Wash these cold on a gentle cycle and hang them to dry or tumble dry on low heat. The clean white finish resists dulling and the stretch recovery holds round after round.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
