We built this pullover as a clean outer layer for cold mornings on the tee. The heathered knit has enough body to cut light wind while four-way stretch keeps the shoulders free through a backswing. A contrast mock neck stands upright on its own and unzips smoothly when the sun comes up.

What we would tell you on the range

  • Heathered stretch knit. The fabric balances a light feel with enough density to keep the chill off your arms. It stretches four ways across the back and recovers its shape after a full round of swings.
  • Contrast mock collar. We set the inner collar in a contrasting tone so it looks sharp zipped up or folded open over a polo collar. The neckband is structured to stay upright without sagging or rubbing.
  • Quarter zip venting. A smooth-running zipper lets you dump heat quickly as the day warms up. The teeth are set flat to prevent bunching across the chest when you address the ball.
  • Washing and shape. Machine wash cold with similar darks and tumble dry on low heat. The tag-free neck and knit construction resist pilling, keeping the collar line and cuffs firm wash after wash.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
