What we would tell you on the range

  • Lightweight stretch knit. The four-way stretch fabric pulls moisture away and dries quickly when the heat climbs. It stays light against the skin through eighteen holes and keeps its give without bagging at the elbows.
  • Collar and placket. A structured self-fabric collar sits close around the back of the neck for extra sun coverage. The three-button placket lets you vent heat as the morning warms up.
  • Vented hem line. Subtle side slits keep the hem lying flat over shorts or trousers when worn untucked. The extra room at the hip prevents the fabric from catching during your follow-through.
  • Wash and care. Machine wash cold with like colours and tumble dry on low. The knit resists shrinking and the dot print holds its crisp contrast wash after wash without ironing.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
