How a golf polo is actually supposed to fit

The shoulder seam decides it

On a polo that fits, the shoulder seam sits on the corner of your shoulder, not hanging off it and not climbing your neck. That corner is the hinge everything else moves around at the top of a backswing.

This is the first thing we check on a sample, before length and before chest width, because it is the one thing nobody can fix at home.

Room where you rotate, quiet where you do not

Raise both arms over your head. The hem should lift an inch or two, not travel to your ribs. Cross your arms; the back should not pull into a drum. A shirt that passes those two tests will pass eighteen holes.

Extra fabric is not extra comfort. Loose cloth at the elbow catches exactly at the top of the swing, which is why our slim cuts exist alongside the easy ones.

Length, and the tuck question

A polo meant to be tucked runs longer at the back so it stays put through a full turn. One meant to be worn out finishes at mid-fly, straight across. Wearing either the other way is where most of the untidiness on a course comes from.

Slim, straight or easy

Every piece on this rack carries a cut note. Slim follows the chest and is meant to sit close; take your usual size and expect it to touch.
