Prints on the course: how loud is too loud
Golf is the one sport where a floral shirt is tradition rather than rebellion. How to wear a print without the print wearing you.
A short history of loud
Golf clothing has swung between sober and loud for a century, and the loud years always come back. The current rack reflects it: more of our designs carry a print than not. The dress codes never minded pattern; they mind cut.
One loud piece at a time
The rule that survives every fashion cycle: let the print be the only print. A patterned polo over plain shorts reads intentional; two patterns read like a lost bet. If the shirt is loud, everything else in the outfit is staff.
Scale and distance
A small repeating print reads as texture from across a fairway and only becomes a pattern up close, which makes it the easy first step. A large-scale floral is a statement at any distance and photographs like one. Both are on the rack; the look note tells you which is which before the parcel does.
If in doubt, solid
A solid polo in a strong colour does most of what a print does with none of the risk, and it survives changes of taste. Half the rack is solid for exactly this reason, and the tee sheet will hand you only those if you ask it to.
