What we would tell you on the range

  • Lightweight stretch weave. The synthetic fabric breathes well in direct sun and dries quickly if morning dew catches the hem. Built-in stretch moves easily as you read putts.
  • Flat front waist. The waist sits flat under a belt or untucked polo hem. It holds a tidy tailored shape through eighteen holes without creasing.
  • Pocket construction. Two deep hand pockets sit flush along the seams. In the back, a secure zippered pocket keeps a scorecard or wallet from slipping out.
  • Wash and wear. Machine wash cold and tumble dry low. The fabric resists wrinkles out of the dryer, so you can pull them on without an iron.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
