What we would tell you on the range

  • Fleece interior. The inside is brushed light for insulation while the smooth outer face sheds morning wind. It holds warmth close to your chest without grabbing the shirt underneath when you turn.
  • Mock neck zip. A stand collar keeps the breeze off your throat during early holes. You can pull the contrast runner down to mid-chest when the sun breaks through and you need to dump heat.
  • Shoulder room. We cut the sleeves with extra give across the upper back and shoulders. You get full clearance at the top of your swing without the cuffs tugging back over your wrists.
  • Wash and shape. Machine wash cold and tumble dry on low heat. The melange knit resists pilling from strap rub and the collar keeps its upright shape without needing an iron.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
