Cold starts call for light coverage that swings freely without bunching around the chest. We built this pullover with a smooth knit that blocks the breeze and stretches through the shoulders. The quarter zip lets you vent heat as the morning warms up.

What we would tell you on the range

Layering over a polo. We shaped the collar and chest with enough room to sit flat over a collared shirt. The fabric slides easily over pique or jersey without catching on your sleeves as you rotate.
Mock neck and zip. The collar stands tall to keep wind off your neck on early holes. Pull the zip down when the sun breaks through to dump heat without taking the layer off.
Right side tee slot. We stitched a dedicated tee holder into the right side seam. It keeps a couple of pegs handy between holes so you do not have to dig into deep pockets.
Washing the knit. Wash on cold with like colours and tumble dry low. The synthetic knit resists wrinkling, holds its shape through the wash cycle, and dries quickly on a hanger.

Worth doing

Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

Worth avoiding

Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
