What we would tell you on the range

  • Neckline cut. The front opens into a clean V while the back band sits high enough to cover the base of the neck under direct sun. It stays flat through eighteen holes without folding inward.
  • Sleeve and stretch. Short sleeves leave arms free through the entire backswing. Four-way stretch across the shoulders lets the fabric move without pulling at the chest or bunching under the arms.
  • Curved lower hem. We cut the hem with a gentle curve that rests below the waistband. It stays down when worn untucked and gives clean coverage when you bend to read a putt.
  • Wash and care. Wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang it to dry. The lightweight fabric sheds moisture quickly, keeps its blue plaid pattern sharp, and needs no iron before the next round.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
