What we would tell you on the range

  • Mock collar and zip. The collar stands upright to shield your neck from early wind. A smooth front zip lets you vent heat as you walk, and the soft placket prevents chafing at the chin.
  • Shoulder and sleeve room. We gave the long sleeves and chest a relaxed cut. The fabric stretches across your upper back so the pullover stays in place when you turn back and follow through.
  • Built in tee holder. A small slot on the right side holds your wooden tees ready. It keeps them off the bottom of your pocket and within easy reach before you step onto the box.
  • Washing and shape. Machine wash cold and tumble dry on low. The durable knit resists shrinking, holds its deep black tone through regular wear, and comes out of the dryer ready to layer.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
