What we would tell you on the range

  • Collar and zip. The mock neck stands tall to block wind around the throat. Pull the zipper down to dump excess warmth as the sun climbs, or keep it zipped flat over your polo collar without catching.
  • Melange stretch knit. We chose a lightweight stretch fabric that sheds the morning chill without feeling heavy. It breathes well, dries quickly if mist rolls through, and gives your arms complete freedom through the backswing.
  • Layering cut. Cut with room through the chest and shoulders so it glides over an underlayer without binding. The straight hem sits cleanly at the waist, staying put whether you wear it untucked or tucked in.
  • Wash and wear. Wash cold on a gentle cycle and tumble dry low. The durable knit resists shrinking, holds its royal blue hue through repeated cycles, and keeps the collar sharp without pressing.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
