What we would tell you on the range

  • Mock collar and zip. The collar stands upright to shield your neck from a morning breeze. Pull the zipper down mid-round to vent heat, or zip it up to sit cleanly over your polo placket without catching.
  • Room to swing. We shaped the long sleeves and back panel with extra give through the shoulders. The knit stretches as you reach the top of your backswing, then snaps back into place when you finish.
  • Side tee pocket. A small loop on the right side keeps a wooden peg ready without digging around in your shorts. It sits flat against the seam so you forget it is there until you reach the tee box.
  • Cold water wash. Wash this pullover on cold and hang it over a rail to dry. The fabric dries quickly, keeps its shape after a cycle, and holds its white and black contrast without bleeding.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
