What we would tell you on the range

  • Fleece backed knit. The interior has a light brushed fleece that holds warmth against a chill. Outside, the knit face stays smooth, stretches four ways with your shoulders, and sheds light wind during early rounds.
  • Mock neck collar. We cut the mock neck to stand upright on its own without rolling down. It blocks wind at the throat and leaves enough room beneath it for a polo collar to sit flat.
  • Quarter zip venting. The deep front zipper lets you dump heat quickly as the back nine heats up. Pull it closed against an early gust, or slide it down to cool off between shots.
  • Layering cut. We gave the body and sleeves enough ease to glide over a polo without bunching under the arms. The hem rests neatly over golf trousers, holding its line whether zipped or open.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
