We built this pullover for early tee times when the air is cold and the wind comes off the water. The olive melange knit has enough stretch to clear a full turn without bunching around the ribs, and it slides over a collared polo with room to spare. Pull the zip down as the day warms up.

What we would tell you on the range

  • Collar and placket. The mock stand collar rests upright against early chill and zips down easily to dump heat on the back nine. We lined the placket to keep the zipper teeth from rubbing your neck at address.
  • Shoulders and sleeves. We gave the sleeves enough length to stay at your wrists through the finish of your swing. The stretch knit across the upper back moves freely, letting the fabric clear your shoulders without binding.
  • Side tee holder. A small slot on the right side holds your peg close so you are not digging into front pockets between shots. It stays flat against the seam when empty.
  • Washing and shape. Wash it cold and tumble dry on low heat. The knit holds its shape and keeps its olive melange tone without shrinking, ready to pack right back into the bag for the next cold start.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
