What we would tell you on the range

  • Medium weight cloth. The fabric has enough body to keep its line without stiffening up. It blocks light wind on early morning tee times and sheds wrinkles quickly out of the laundry, so it needs little attention between rounds.
  • Room through the turn. Side-to-side stretch lets you squat to read a line or finish a swing without the waistband digging in. The straight leg stays loose through the calf and rests neatly at the shoe.
  • Four pocket layout. Two front slash pockets sit flat and keep tees within reach. In back, two pockets secure with buttons to hold a glove or scorecard without sagging or catching on a cart seat.
  • Washing and care. Machine wash cold with like colours and tumble dry on low. The khaki cloth resists creasing on its own, so pulling them promptly from the dryer leaves the creases looking right.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
  • Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
