What we would tell you on the range

  • Four-way stretch knit. The synthetic knit breathes easily and stretches in all directions, so the shoulder seams stay put at the top of your backswing. It sheds moisture quickly when the sun comes out.
  • Contrast inner collar. We built the collar to stand upright through eighteen holes without curling at the tips. The inner stand and placket carry a neat geometric pattern that stays hidden until you open the buttons.
  • Split side vents. Side slits at the lower hem give your hips room to turn and let the shirt drape flat if you choose to play untucked. Reinforced seams along the hem keep the edges from rolling.
  • Cold wash care. Wash this shirt in cold water on a gentle cycle to preserve the rich red dye. Hang it to dry on a wide hanger and the collar keeps its shape without an iron.

Worth doing

  • Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
  • Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
  • Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

Worth avoiding

  • Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
  • The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
  • An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
  • Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
