What we would tell you on the range

Brushed fleece interior. The inside is finished with a low-pile microfleece that traps heat close to the body. It stays light, breathes well when you walk hills, and slides over a collared shirt without catching or dragging on the sleeves.
Mock neck and zipper. The stand collar sits close enough to block cold drafts without crowding your neck. A smooth quarter-length zipper lets you vent heat quickly on the back nine, and the zipper pull stays flat against the placket during a swing.
Shoulders and stretch. We built extra room across the upper back so the fabric does not pull tight at the top of your takeaway. Four-way stretch lets the arms move freely, while fitted cuffs keep the sleeves cleanly off your wrists.
Washing and colour. The deep black knit resists pilling and keeps its shade through steady rotation. Wash it cold with similar colours and hang it to dry. The collar holds its shape without ironing and the fleece stays soft inside.

Worth doing

Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
