We built this layer for early morning tee times when the air has a bite to it. Soft microfleece on the inside holds warmth against the wind, while the smooth outer face slips easily over a golf polo. The light grey melange knit hides dust and stays neat through the round.

What we would tell you on the range
- Brushed microfleece interior. The inside face uses a fine microfleece that traps heat without building bulk under your arms. It breathes well enough that you stay dry as the morning warms up, making it easy to keep on through the turn.
- Mock neck and zip. A standing collar blocks cold gusts around the neck. The short front zip lets you dump excess heat quickly when walking uphill, and the contrast inner collar stays upright without rolling down.
- Shoulder stretch and cuffs. Four way stretch runs through the body and sleeves so the fabric moves with your turn. Fitted cuffs keep the sleeves clear of your grip at address and stop drafts from creeping up your arms.
- Care and wash. Machine wash cold with like colours and tumble dry on low heat. The anti-pilling face resists friction from your golf bag straps and keeps its melange texture without fuzzing up over time.

Worth doing
- Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
- Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
- Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.
- Check the size chart on the partner page before you settle on a size.
Worth avoiding
- Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
- The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
- An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
- Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
