What we would tell you on the range

Microfleece backing. The interior is brushed into a lightweight microfleece that holds heat against a polo shirt. It breathes well enough that you do not overheat as you walk, and the outer face stays smooth under wind.
Collar and zip. A stand collar sits close enough to keep wind off your neck. The quarter zip runs smoothly so you can pull it down one-handed between shots when you need a bit of airflow.
Cuffs and hem. Fitted cuffs stay put at your wrists at address rather than sliding down over your grip. The banded hem keeps the layer sitting clean over golf trousers without riding up during your follow-through.
Cold wash care. Wash on a cold cycle and tumble dry on low or hang it dry. The fabric resists pilling and keeps its shape and soft inner fleece intact after regular rounds and washes.

Worth doing

Wash it cold, inside out, with the placket buttoned so it keeps its line.
Hang it to dry; performance jersey is usually wearable again by morning.
Store it on a hanger with real shoulders, not folded damp in the bag.

Worth avoiding

Fabric softener. It coats the fibre and the wicking quietly stops working.
The hot tumble dryer, which is hard on elastane and on printed panels.
An iron face-down on a print or a logo.
Leaving it wadded in the trunk between weekends.
